Height: Native northwest deciduous fern that grows to about 2 feet tall.
Habitat: Grows in moist humus rich soil in shade. Colonies form in suitable habitats.
Foliage: Delicate black stalks with bright green feathery fan shape fronds that look like five fingers of a hand.
Natural Habitat: Usually grows in moist wooded areas at low to mid elevations. Also, can grow along streambanks.
Why is it good for my garden? This fern is not only a beautiful feathery green addition to a shady part of your garden but the fronds can be used in flower arrangements since they will last a long time once cut.
