Height: This evergreen ground cover is rhizomatous and trailing to 6 inches tall and 12 inches wide.
Habitat: Grows best in full shade moist to well draining area.
Foliage: Leathery, heart shaped, fragrant, leaves. Leaves when crushed have a light ginger fragrance.
Flowers: Unique purple-brown flower with 3 lobes that grow under the leaves of this plant. Blooms April through July.
Natural Habitat: Found widely around Washington in moist shady areas.
Why is it good for my garden? This evergreen ground cover with its dark green fragrant leaves is great for shady moist areas. Deer resistant for the most part but slugs may enjoy this plant.
