Height: Native shrub/small tree, to 30 ft .tall.
Habitat: Grow best moist soils in full sun to partial shade.
Foliage: Glossy green deciduous leaves.
Flowers: White flowers bloom May through June followed by black edible fruit that ripens in August.
Fruits: Black edible fruit that ripens in August.
Natural Habitat: Found in forest as understory and on margins
Why is it good for my garden? Good tree to plant for birds and pollinators. Pretty flowers and bark was used in the past as a laxative. Western Tanager like the berries on this and bugs that live in these trees.
