Height: This evergreen shrub can grow from 8 to 12 ft. tall and wide.

Habitat: Grows best in full to part sun in well drained to moist soil.

Foliage: Opposite oval to oblong Dark green to gray green top and fuzzy lighter green under side of leaf.

Flowers: Yellow to green catkins form in winter and turn gray with age.

Fruits: Hairy fruits that turn from light green to dark purple.

Bark: New growth has reddish bark that turns to brown with age.

Natural Habitat: Found in shaded canyons to the coast.

Why is it good for my garden? This shrub has beautiful color to a green area. Can tolerate salt spay. Grows well in most soil conditions make this an easy shrub to grow. Birds enjoy the fruit.
