Height: This perennial can grow from 3 to 6 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in dry to sandy soil in full sun.
Foliage: Lance shaped, gray green leaves grow in a circular fan shaped cluster.
Flowers: Small, fragrant, yellow flowers grow in a large long spike cluster blooming in May through September.
Fruits: Hairy gray seed pods form after flower fades.
Natural Habitat: Found in sandy soils at low elevations. Native to California.
Why is it good for my garden? Lupine is a great plant easy to grow and grows pretty fast. The beautiful large flowers attract pollinators. Note that the seed are poisonous to human and livestock.
