Malus fusca - Pacific Crabapple

Product Details

Height: This small deciduous tree can grow from 16 to 40 ft. tall.

Habitat: Grows best in moist to well drained soil in full to part sun.

Foliage: Oval shaped, lobed, green leaves.

Flowers: Small, five petal, white, fragrant flowers form in clusters and bloom April to May.

Fruits: Very small yellow to red, oblong apples form in clusters and are edible.

Bark: Brown bark. Branches have what look to be thorns but they are not sharp. These blunt spurs are where the flowers grow out of.

Natural Habitat: Found in moist woods and swamps.

Why is it good for my garden? Pacific crabapple is a great plant for bringing birds into your yard. Good for a moist area and easy to grow. Song Sparrows like the fruit of the crabapple.
