Height: This perennial can grow to 2 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in moist to wet soil in full to part sun.
Foliage: Oblong light green leaves.
Flowers: Reddish purple flowers grow down in a shooting or inside out way from reddish purple to white then yellow with black beak. These flowers bloom in April through June.
Fruits: Oval shaped capsules of seeds form after flower fades.
Natural Habitat: Found in coastal prairies to timberlines.
Why is it good for my garden? This perennial is great for most gardens because of it super early blooming unique flower. It can tolerate salt spray.
