Height: This thornless, rhizomatous, deciduous shrub can grow 3 to 10 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in moist to dry soil in full to part sun.
Foliage: Alternate, lobed, toothed green leaves
Flowers: Small, fragrant, yellow, 5 petal flowers bloom in clusters in April through May.
Fruits: Orange to burgundy, edible, round berries.
Bark: Reddish bark on new growth that turns gray brown with age.
Natural Habitat: Found in moist meadows to forests.
Why is it good for my garden? Golden current has beautiful fragrant flowers and edible berries and grows well in most areas. Hummingbirds love the flowers and songbirds the berries.
