Height: This deciduous shrub can grow from 3 to 8 ft. tall.
Habitat: Grows best in moist to well drained soil in full to part shade.
Foliage: Large, soft hairs on underside, bright green lobed, toothed, leaves look like maple leaves.
Flowers: White, 5 petal, fragrant flowers bloom April through July.
Fruits: Red, cup shaped, edible berries.
Bark: Gray brown bark with no thorns.
Natural Habitat: Found in western and northern North America and the Great Lakes region; often grows in disturbed areas, appearing as an early part of ecological succession; can also be found in forest understory.
