Height: This rhizomatous, deciduous, shrub can grow from 3 to 11 ft. tall.

Habitat: Grows best in moist to well drained soil in full to part sun.

Foliage: Opposite, veined,, toothed, green leaf that turns bright red in fall.

Flowers: Small white, flowers form in umbrella shaped clusters bloom May through June.

Fruits: Bright red, round berries turn black in fall.

Bark: Brown.

Natural Habitat: Found in moist woods and swamps.
